The Plot: Community Garden Medicine Wheel Festivities

On July 31, 2016 the Plot Community Garden had its opening with the medicine wheel festivities in Surrey BC, Canada. There was dancing at the medicine wheel to honor the four corners of Earth, drumming, singing, celebrating the land of the Native American people. The events included walking through the gardens learning about the different plants and vegetables, making medicine bags, and herb bundles in the tipi, hearing stories, etc.

The community garden hosted the event as open to the public free of charge, with lunch, and live entertainment. This community garden has no wait lists and is free of charge. There are volunteering opportunities to plant in the garden and help take care of what is growing there, bringing and planting vegetables, flowers, etc. and also having a chance to take some food or plants from the garden as a free energetic exchange as part of the community.

People have a chance of learning about how plants grow, harvesting organic food, how to create gardens, and to find out about the Native American culture.
